Yoga Shoes: Find the best for you.

When shopping for yoga shoes it’s important to know what to look for, and how they work. They are like regular shoes but just with a few differences. Since they are specifically designed for use with yoga training and exercises, they allow for a lot of flexibility and have thin soles to allow for this. They will be lightweight and will have good air flow so your feet can breath better. There are many more styles and colors recently than there have been in the past and this is very important for a lot of shoppers. So just like most yoga clothing, how you choose to wear it depends a lot on you.

Why should you wear yoga shoes?

It really depends on where you will be training or learning yoga. A lot of people who do it at home, simply go barefoot. This is perfectably acceptable in those situations, and actually encouraged by many trainers and teachers.

If you will be practicing yoga at a class, or outside location, that is where shoes will most likely be recommended or possibly even required. The reasons for these are many, ranging from protection, to sanitary reasons. Many yoga teachers will use their own yoga mats and do not want bare foot after bare foot on them because it because harder to clean and if they give yoga classes through-out the day this can become a problem.

Just for some of the same reason that people wear regular sneakers or shoes when they are out, the same reasons people who are training in yoga wear yoga shoes. Many say the support and breathing they get from the yoga shoes make them very comfortable and protect them from germs and getting dirty in general. If you are in a public place, most people would reason that having some protection on your feet is probably a good idea. Keeping your feet smooth and not rough is also important because if you walk around barefoot your feel will be more likely to get bunyons and blisters.

The safety of wearing yoga shoes is another important thing to take into consideration. While they won’t be the most protective, they still provide a level of protection from stepping on harmful objects that you might run into when you leave your house, or even when you are inside your own house.

Why shouldn’t you wear yoga shoes?

As I’ve said before, it really ranges from person to person but there are some valid reasons people choose not to wear yoga shoes.

Some people feel that yoga means that they need to feel better connected to everything around them, and the more material, items, clothing, etc they have on, the less connected they feel. One of the biggest things about yoga in general is being closer to yourself, and to the earth, which is why a lot of people don’t wear anything at all when they do yoga!

If you learned yoga while wearing nothing on your feet, and then you try switching to shoes, it might just feel too awkward and might take you out of your “game”. Just like if you were to suddenly have to start showering with sneakers on, it just wouldn’t feel right and since yoga is all about body and mind connecting, anything that can distract from that is usually looked down upon.

Many people that believe and practice reflexology believe that your feet are directly connected to your entire body and having them free during your yoga practice, it will make you better overall in being one, and centered with everything else.

Ultimately it comes down to a lot of differernt factors on whether or not you plan on buying and using yoga shoes. Some people choose to buy yoga shoes and give it a shot, or use them sometimes and not others. Just make the decision for yourself and I’m sure it will be the best personally for you. You’ll find that the more you learn about yoga clothing, the better decisions you will ultimately make.

Toeless Yoga & Pilates Socks

These Injinji Toeless Yoga Socks are eco-friendly.

They are made from Nubamboo Fabric.

They are very light weight, so much so you hardly remember you are wearing them! They are very smooth and have moisture-wicking and quick drying abilities.

This is great for those of us who sweat heavily on our feet.

This prevents them from getting sweaty and from odor starting to form. This can be very important in public places when you are practicing your yoga.

It has lyrca spandex which is great for total stretch and shape retention, so after you have been using them for a while you don’t have to worry about them getting out of their starting shape and become less effective, as you might with regular socks.

The bottom of the sock has slip resistant rubber dots which give you total control and grip no matter where you decide to practice your yoga.

Organic Cotton Yoga Toe Socks

These toe socks are perfect for Yoga. They use a patent-pending technology for the non-slip, tight gripping sole of the sock which gives you unmatched comfort and control during your yoga or pilates sessions.

They give each of your toes room to breathe and prevent sweating and moisture from building up by doing so. The seperation of the toes also gives you increased flexibility and really strengthen your foot muscles.

The grip can give you a superb grip on different floor textures from hardwood floors to yoga mats, you will really notice the difference. It also prevents germs and increases the hygienic barrier between your foot and the floor.

It’s made primarily of organic cotton which is extremely breathable and comfortable.

Do you need Yoga Socks?

Yoga socks can be the ideal solution for you if you are looking for great footwear for your yoga or pilates sessions and workouts. Think of them as gloves for the feet.

It’s true that you can practice yoga or pilates without needing any footwear at all, but the chances are, especially if you practice it in a public place that they will require you to be wearing something on your feet.

The reasons are that the more protected your feet are, the safer you are and less likely you can get injured which is always important to a business. The other reason is for cleaniness. Just having people walk around barefoot can spread germs and dirt and is good to avoid.

You can also find some good yoga socks or shoes that will actually improve your ability to do some of the movements. By using the grips that are associated with these socks and shoes for yoga, the grip that they allow will help you stand and position yourself better than you could have with simple barefeet.

Yoga socks are usually made of cotton just like regular socks. The difference between regular socks and yoga socks is that they will usually have a form of grip at the bottom and they will allow the toes to seperate, just like gloves will for your hands.

By letting the toes seperate in the yoga socks it reduces the sweat and moisture between the toes and allows you to achieve a better grip without the restriction of regular socks.

For those exercises that require you to practice in barefoot you can almost always use yoga socks because they do nothing but increase your effectiveness. They won’t hinder your balance or movement and will act more like a glove or second skin to your feet and toes. They provide extra cushion where you need it and increase the comfort by a great amount.

Some of the benefits of the Shu are:

- Good grip and non-slip protection.
- Keeps your feet and toes warm and has nice airflow to prevent sweating and odor.
- Very easy to clean.
- Can wear them into the shower so you can get clean while they do.

Chances are you are going to need some shoes to wear when you are doing yoga or pilates and most people either use socks designed for yoga or specific shoes.

Basics Of Yoga Clothing

Finding the right yoga clothing is one of the first steps you will need to complete in order to start your yoga classes.

Whether you are going to be training yoga from home, or at a classroom, there is a virtual checklist of things you should keep in mind, and plan on in regards to the yoga clothing you plan on wearing during your yoga sessions.

Here is a list of certain things we find are important and relevant to getting the most out of your yoga clothing. It is by no means considered to be the ultimate guide or even 100% accurate, but is just our take on what kind of yoga clothing for men and women, you should consider beforehand.

Yoga Clothing – Do’s and Don’ts

1. The whole idea of yoga is being able to move around and be flexible without any kind of restrictions, whether those restrictions be from your own body, or the clothes you are wearing. Ideally yoga would be performed nude, but considering that could raise other issues yoga clothing is perfectably acceptable.

The point being, when you do start looking for the clothing you will be wearing to yoga class, at home or out with others, freedom of movement and not having your body circulation or energy be restrained by the clothes is important.

2. If you have already chosen your yoga outfit and are prepared to go out and do your yoga you will most likely want to make sure you have total free range for all the movements you believe and know you will be making during that course.

You don’t want to get to a yoga class and realize that your yoga pants are restricting you too much, or that your yoga shirt is too loose, or too tight. It’s good to do a full basic beginning stretch and movement course before you go out to prevent this issue from coming up.

3. What you wear on your feet will also vary depending on where you are, and who you are with. Many people choose to do yoga with no shoes on at all, and while that is perfectably acceptable in some scenerios it will not always be permitted by everyone involved. For instanec, for hygeine reasons if you are in a high traffic area, having your feet touch the bare ground might not be a good idea. That’s why they have introduced yoga socks or special yoga shoes for situations like this. They are perfect as an alternative to wearing nothing on your feet.

If you are in a yoga class, as you will find in many yoga clothing situations, you will most likely have to adapt to the rules of the class. Many instructors will have their mats out, and if they let everyone use bare feet that could create a problem, and they might not want to have to feel the need to wash the yoga mat after everye class.

4. You will definitely not want any large or dangling jewelry of any sort during your yoga class. Having long earrings, or big diamonds rings can cause issues or even worse, damage to you or other people depending on the type of yoga training you will be doing. Remove any jewelry that might possibly get in your way.

This is a better safe than sorry, as if you were asked to remove it once you were already out of your house, your chances of losing or getting your valuables stolen increases greatly.

5. If you have long hair you will want to put it up as well as you can. Basically you try to prevent any hair from dangling in any way. A pony tail would be good, but a full bun that keeps it all tight would be the best,

6. For those yoga people who wear contacts, because some yoga techniques involve having your eyes closed during long periods, you will want to remove your contacts or even as silly as it sounds, get some prescription sport goggles for the best resulst. If your vision is good enough to get by during the glass, simply having them out during the yoga class should be just fine.

Is Organic Yoga Clothing better?

Because of the balance with nature and harmony with everything around us, yoga has become more and more popular with bringing these balances into your body, soul and mind. Just as important a factor is what you surround yourself with, and more specifically, on your body. It might seem like something small at first but getting the right kind of clothing for your yoga lifestyle can be a big step forward in becoming one with nature, and more importantly, yourself.

Organic Yoga clothing is essential for that yoga practitioner who wants to complete their training. Many people who train in yoga, whether an expert or just an enthusiast or beginner, find it important to do everything right, from the styles and methods of yoga, to the clothing they choose to wear.

One drawback that will initially stop people from getting organic yoga clothing is the fact that it will typically be more expensive than regular clothing made of cotton or synthetic material. Most decide that this is an acceptable factor when weighing what it does to our environment and our future generations. Ultimately, paying a little more to do your part in maintaining this beautiful earth we live on is a small price to pay for such a thing.

Some may say that because there are not as many places to buy, or as many styles in organic yoga clothing, that they simply can’t do it because they are unable to find what they need, whether it be in size or color or even style. As more and more organic yoga clothing is created and supplied, this argument has become less and less valid.

Fortunately now, you can find organic clothing for yoga made from either 100% cotton or other materials such as Lycra or Tactel blends. You can find tops, bottoms, shirts, pants and everything in between so there is not excuse not to get started.
